Summary:

Senior level position serving as the primary service contact and loan closer for assigned Commercial customers and Relationship Managers. Single point of contact “quarterback” for customer onboarding, opening deposit accounts and ongoing deposit service/maintenance, post-closing loan support and set-up, and servicing of digital platforms. Directly responsible for the integrity of the loan closing process, due diligence, loan documentation, compliance, funding, and loan booking, to ensure the deal conforms to credit approval, policies and business requirements. Manages the closing portfolio for the assigned Commercial Banking segment, proactively engaging with deal team, communicating, collaborating, and prioritizing. Responsible for delivering an outstanding experience to customers and business partners, while carrying out sound risk management practices, within a dynamic business development environment. Serves as the subject matter expert in areas including specific business/industry types, collateral, documentation, account and customer servicing, and credit process.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with the customer, internal partners such as Treasury Management, credit, and Deal Team, and external partners including Attorney’s, Title Companies etc.

  • Acts and makes decisions in coordination or on behalf of Relationship Managers; connects or informs other bank colleagues to enable seamless transition of service for non-credit products; Often assigned to support the most complex, visible, large, and/or sensitive customers and services.

  • Takes initiative to facilitate customer onboarding in conjunction with RM; ensures regulatory and system requirements are met; includes new and existing entities, triggering events, and clearing exceptions and diligence cases; works directly with customer and deal team colleagues.

  • Responsible for initiating and driving the loan closing process, integrity of loan closings, due diligence, documentation, compliance and loan booking. Including: review closing documents, ensure the loan structure and terms conform to credit approval and bank policies, and requirements to close are in place, identify and appropriately mitigate exceptions.

  • Responsible for clearing any outstanding post-closing items and collateral exceptions; works with Commercial Loan Servicing to resolve errors. Manages closing checklist, certifications, and closing files according to Business Segment standards.

  • Obtains/reviews customer information, prepares documents for customer signatures required to open commercial deposit accounts and business online; satisfies legal, technical, and compliance requirements; provides information to customers on deposit product types and features.

  • Services commercial deposit accounts, including updates to signers, account holds, CD renewals; manages overdrafts and approval process for time-sensitive decisioning; account closures; fraud protocols and interim monitoring; customer courtesy wires and funds movement; supports RM requests relating to deposit portfolio.

  • Services commercial loans, including customer requests for advances; rate changes; insurance monitoring; research of past dues, invoices, misapplied payments, and other issues; supports RM requests and special handling of unique administration requirements relating to loan portfolio.

  • May mentor and assist in training less experienced colleagues; participates in projects as assigned.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 7+ years of Commercial Banking experience may be considered.

  • 5-7 years' experience in Commercial Banking with loan and deposit product knowledge and servicing.

  • Ability to understand and interpret commercial deal structures and legal documents, work through “gray areas”, and leverage resources to expedite complex concurrent processes.
