Huntington National Bank Senior Accountant in Columbus, Ohio
Our Accountant Senior reconciles GL accounts and identifies, researches, resolves and explains any exceptions to the reconciliation policy. You will provide subject matter expertise to others in the department, work exception conditions proactively and lead the implementation of new reconciliations and the streamlining of existing reconciliations within assigned projects and areas, which will include; building relationships with key business partners that are supported by the reconciliations, establishing process, procedures and service level agreements consistent with our overall risk tolerance.
Independently reconcile assigned GL and DDA accounts, with an emphasis on Payroll reconciliations.
Independently identify, research, resolve and explain any exceptions within the reconciliation process.
Work exception conditions proactively by engaging business partners within and outside of the department.
Manage changing priorities with ease and remain poised and professional when facing resistance or challenge.
Take initiative for continuous improvement by looking for ways to be more effective and efficient.
Adhere to and monitor adherence with established accounting policies, procedures and controls.
Demonstrate strong analytical and critical thinking skills and understand accounting principles.
Develop complex models and Essbase queries.
Ability to decompose complex processes. Can build, change and document complex processes.
Ensure current and accurate procedures for all reconciliations are maintained.
Create complex formula statements using Excel.
This position will be cross-trained in other functions within the team.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
1+ years reconciliation, general ledger, and/or accounting operations experience required.
Financial Institution related experience preferred. Payroll related experience a plus.
Word and Excel experience (must include pivot tables, vlookups, formulas).
Essbase, Monarch, Visio and Accurate NXG experience preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels of management.
High degree of individual initiative and ability to work both independently and as a member of a team on multiple tasks and meet required deadlines.
Proven experience working with other departments to quickly resolve outstanding items.
Demonstrated understanding of transactional accounting flow and processes.
